        "content": "<p>Japan's loan for Manila<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): Japan's Overseas Economic Cooperation Fund<br>\n(OECF) has approved a 20th yen credit package amounting to 100.9<br>\nbillion yen or US$1.2 billion, the Philippines finance department<br>\nsaid yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The package will fund 14 projects, the largest being a 215-<br>\nmillion-dollar project for a coastal road in the central city of<br>\nCebu.<\/p>\n<p>The projects included support for agrarian reform, irrigation,<br>\nimprovement of roads, maritime safety and air navigation, power<br>\nand flood control projects.<\/p>\n<p>Acting finance secretary Romeo Bernardo and the heads of<br>\nseveral state financial institutions signed the agreement for the<br>\nPhilippines while Masakazu Ishiguro, the OECF Manila<br>\nrepresentative, signed for Japan.<\/p>",
