Japanese travel agencies visit Bali<\/p>\n
DENPASAR: Representatives of over 91 Japanese travel agencies
\nwithin the Japan Association of Travel Agents (JATA) visited Bali
\nover the weekend to assess the latest security situation on the
\nisland.<\/p>\n
The three-day visit, led by JATA chairman Yukio Ishii, also
\nbrought 16 Japanese journalists and travel writers.<\/p>\n
It was the second visit by Japanese travel representatives to
\nthe island since the Oct. 12 attack, which killed more than 190
\npeople, mostly foreigners.<\/p>\n
In a meeting with local government officials on Saturday, the
\nbusinesspeople expressed their support for efforts to improve
\nsecurity protection on the island.<\/p>\n
Bali deputy governor I Gusti Bagus Alit Putra told the
\nJapanese that the government would issue security guarantee
\ndocuments to foreign travel bureaus that regularly brought
\nforeign tourists to the island.<\/p>\n
During their stay in Bali, the representatives observed a
\nvariety of measures carried out to improve security at the
\nairport, hotels, shopping centers and several tourist
\nattractions.<\/p>\n
