Japanese man wanted for abusing visa<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Immigration officers are looking for a Japanese
\nman who did not return to their office despite promising to do so
\nafter being arrested and released for abusing his visa.<\/p>\n
Otong Hasan, the head of the immigration supervision and
\nmeasures subdivision of the Directorate General of Immigration,
\nsaid in a statement yesterday that the man, identified as Matsuo
\nShunji, 46, was arrested Wednesday at the Centra Beauty Pro
\nbeauty parlor in Plaza Indonesia, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The expatriate, who had a limited stay permit issued by the
\nCentral Jakarta immigration office, was working as a promotion
\nconsultant at the beauty parlor, Otong said.<\/p>\n
\"Shunji is working for PT Eres Revco as a promotion
\nconsultant,\" he said.<\/p>\n
He said that the investigation into Shunji started after the
\nimmigration office received information that he was serving
\ncustomers in the beauty parlor, especially on Saturdays and
\nSundays.<\/p>\n
Shunji was arrested after treating an undercover officer's
\nhair.<\/p>\n
During his work, Shunji, who had both local and Japanese
\ncustomers, was not accompanied by a local.<\/p>\n
\"If he can serve an immigration officer, he can serve
\nanybody,\" Otong said.<\/p>\n
Shunji could not show his passport during the arrest and was
\nthen taken to the immigration office in Kuningan, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The immigration office released Shunji from its detention
\ncenter on Wednesday afternoon after Eres Revco promised Shunji
\nwould return to the center at 10 a.m. yesterday.<\/p>\n
However at 2 p.m. yesterday, Shunji had still not shown up at
\nthe office as promised, prompting Otong to make his statement.<\/p>\n
Last week, immigration officers also arrested seven foreign
\nnationals from Egypt, Japan, Malaysia and Zaire. (ste)<\/p>",
