Japan to share disaster know-how<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Japan will share its experiences in dealing with
\nvarious types of natural disaster through a television program
\nthat will also be broadcast in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
The Disaster Reduction: Japan's Global Contribution program
\nwill be aired on National Geographic Channel on two Sundays, Aug.
\n21 and Aug. 28, from 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.<\/p>\n
The Japan Center for Intercultural Communication said in a
\npress release that the program would discuss Japan's resolute
\ncommitment to international cooperation for disaster reduction,
\nand discuss some challenges faced in the course of the efforts.<\/p>\n
Japan has offered a total of US$500 million to tsunami-hit
\ncountries, and a significant amount of this is going to
\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
\"The Japanese have transformed their suffering (caused by
\nnatural disasters) into a source of wisdom, a storehouse of
\nexpertise, technology and knowledge about preventing and reducing
\nfuture natural disasters. This valuable wisdom, developed over
\nthe years, has enabled Japan to provide assistance to many
