        "content": "<p>Japan seeks deal with ASEAN<\/p>\n<p>TOKYO (Dow Jones): Japan will seek comprehensive agreements<br>\nwith members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations<br>\n(ASEAN) in a wide range of areas in advance of World Trade<br>\nOrganization (WTO) negotiations on market liberalization next<br>\nyear, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Monday that government<br>\nsources said.<\/p>\n<p>Foreign Minister Masahiko Komura will announce the appeal at<br>\nthe Asia-Europe Meeting scheduled later this month.<\/p>\n<p>Japan hopes that joining hands with the European Union and the<br>\nASEAN will enable a challenge to U.S. trade dominance of the<br>\nquadrilateral trade ministers meeting set for early May.<\/p>\n<p>Japan and the European Union have already agreed on various<br>\nproposals for the next round of WTO talks, including anti-dumping<br>\nmeasures, investment rules, tariffs on manufactured goods,<br>\nservices and agricultural products. There is concern, however,<br>\nthat expanding the arrangements could lead to more disadvantages<br>\nin trading for developing nations.<\/p>",
