        "content": "<p>Tokyo (ANTARA) - Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and\nIndonesian President Prabowo Subianto agreed to tighten coordination in\nhandling the situation in the Middle East, where the ongoing war has\ntriggered concerns over energy supplies and driven up oil prices.<\/p>\n<p>In a joint press conference following talks in Tokyo on Tuesday,\nTakaichi said she and Prabowo also agreed to promote concrete\ncooperation between the two countries in the economic and security\nsectors, as Tokyo aims to strengthen ties with the Southeast Asian\nnation while considering China.<\/p>\n<p>In their first face-to-face meeting since Takaichi assumed the role\nof Prime Minister in October 2025, she stated that Japan would assist\nIndonesia in developing human resources related to artificial\nintelligence (AI) and enhancing maritime security capabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Indonesia\u2019s eighth President Prabowo Subianto described\nthe bilateral relations between Indonesia and Japan as an exemplary\nmodel for other countries.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo also said that Indonesia and Japan must walk together in the\ncurrent international situation, which he described as full of\ndangers.<\/p>\n<p>He also expressed his desire to contribute to de-escalating the\nconflict, which appears to relate to the current conditions in the\nMiddle East.<\/p>\n<p>Japan and Indonesia have strengthened their defence cooperation in\nrecent years through Japan\u2019s Official Security Assistance framework,\nunder which Japan provides defence equipment to like-minded countries,\nas well as through joint exercises between their forces.<\/p>\n<p>Japan sources almost all of its crude oil from abroad and relies on\nthe Middle East for more than 90 per cent of its crude oil imports;\nwhile Indonesia depends on the region for around 20 to 25 per cent of\nits oil procurement.<\/p>\n<p>Prabowo, who arrived in Tokyo on Sunday (29\/3) for a three-day visit,\nmet with Emperor Naruhito and his younger brother, Crown Prince\nFumihito, on Monday (30\/3).<\/p>",
