'Jamu' workers up in arms<\/p>\n
CILACAP, Central Java: Tension prevailed on Tuesday along the
\nfive-kilometer-long road leading to Sampang district when groups
\nof angry workers brandishing sharp weapons set up roadblocks in a
\nbid to protect their factories from government closure.<\/p>\n
Sampang, a district located 20 kilometers north of Cilacap,
\nhouses two factories making jamu, a traditional tonic of
\nmedicinal herbs, located in Gentasari and Sikampuh villages.<\/p>\n
The workers were enraged because 80 of them were told to stop
\nproduction after health officials discovered the also contained
\nred-label medicines, which can only be obtained with doctor's
\nprescription.<\/p>\n
The workers blockaded the road to prevent health officials and
\npolice from entering. They also searched passersby.<\/p>\n
"This is outrageous. We'll handle the matter soon," Cilacap
\nPolice chief Lt. Col. Andi Lolo said Tuesday. (45\/edt)<\/p>",
