Indonesia's Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, confirmed that investigators are still evaluating the justice collaborator application submitted by Sony Sonjaya, a suspect in the alleged corruption of the Free Nutritious Meals programme. The review focuses on the necessity of his testimony and the extent of his potential cooperation. Sonjaya's legal team argues he was pressured by influential figures, challenging the narrative that he alone was responsible for manipulating the programme's kitchen distribution points.

Jakarta - Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus)
Febrie Adriansyah stated that investigators are still reviewing the
justice collaborator (JC) application filed by Sony Sonjaya, a suspect
in the alleged corruption case involving the management of the Free
Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme. Speaking in South Jakarta on Monday,
Febrie outlined several aspects being considered before deciding whether
to accept or reject the request. “One, we examine the existing evidence.
Is his testimony still needed? Second, to what extent can he serve as a
JC? Can he maximise his capacity as a JC?” he said. Based on these
considerations, he noted that investigators require more time. “This
still needs time. We will decide soon,” he added.

Sony Sonjaya was named a suspect on 3 June 2026, alongside former
Head of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) Dadan Hindayana and former
Deputy Head of BGN Lodewyk Pusung. Following his designation and
examination, Sony applied to become a justice collaborator to assist in
uncovering the case. The application was submitted through his legal
counsel, Krisna Murti, to the Jampidsus on Monday, 8 June. According to
Krisna, Sony believes he has been unfairly singled out as the party
responsible for selling the locations of the Nutrition Fulfilment
Service Unit (SPPG) kitchens, whereas in reality he was under pressure
and direction from other parties. “He has been cornered as the one who
sold the kitchen points, the one who manipulated those kitchens. Yet,
according to Mr Sony, he was under pressure, there was attention from
big names which he will reveal himself later in court. He was pressured,
and he was not the mastermind. The consideration is simply that he
should not be presumed to be the one who sold those kitchens,” Krisna
explained.
",
