        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of DKI Jakarta\nreported that Jakarta\u2019s economy grew by 5.59 percent year-on-year in the\nfirst quarter of 2026 compared to the first quarter of 2025, supported\nby the wholesale and retail trade, motor vehicle and motorcycle repair\nsector. \u201cThe wholesale and retail trade sector provided the largest\ncontribution to DKI Jakarta\u2019s economy, serving as the highest source of\ngrowth with a contribution of 1.06 percent,\u201d said the Head of BPS DKI\nJakarta, Kadarmanto, in Jakarta on Tuesday. The next largest contributor\nto growth based on business fields was information and communication,\ncontributing 0.88 percent, followed by accommodation, food, and beverage\nservices, which contributed 0.56 percent to the growth. Kadarmanto\nstated that, from the production side, the highest growth in the first\nquarter of 2026 was achieved by the accommodation, food, and beverage\nservices sector at 10.84 percent. This increase in the sector\u2019s growth\nwas due to the rising number of foreign tourists, an increase in\ndomestic tourists visiting Jakarta, and a higher number of visits to\nrestaurants or dining places. The sector with the next highest growth\nwas other services, which grew by 8.37 percent year-on-year. This growth\nwas driven by the number of domestic tourists heading to Jakarta,\nparticularly visits to recreational and entertainment venues, which also\nexperienced an increase. Next, the sector with the third highest growth\nwas transportation and warehousing, which grew by 8.31 percent\nyear-on-year in the first quarter of 2026. \u201cThe growth in the\ntransportation and warehousing sector is reflected in the increase in\nthe number of passengers on rail transport, land transport, sea\ntransport, and also ASDP, which rose,\u201d said Kadarmanto. In addition, the\nvolume of sea freight transport and the volume of traffic on toll roads\nalso increased.
