        "content": "<p>Jakartan dialect<\/p>\n<p>From Kompas<\/p>\n<p>In relation to the observance of National Education Day, I<br>\ngreatly appreciate the appeal of the Ministers of Education and<br>\nCulture, and Information that Bahasa Indonesia should be more<br>\nwidely taught through the media, especially television.<\/p>\n<p>Our national language is still dominated by the Jakartan<br>\n(Betawi) dialect, which has spread to North Sumatra and Riau.<br>\nThese provinces are regarded as where Bahasa Indonesia<br>\noriginated.<\/p>\n<p>The strong influence of the Jakartan dialect is clearly felt<br>\nin drama serials on television, as exemplified by the use of lu<br>\ninstead of anda and gue instead of saya. Also the suffix in is<br>\nbecoming increasingly popular throughout the country.<br>\nUnfortunately, the government has not been serious in its efforts<br>\nto use good and correct Bahasa Indonesia.
