Jakarta to host International Air Show '96<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Approximately 800 aircraft-related companies and
\n120 aircraft are expected to participate in the International Air
\nShow 1996.<\/p>\n
The air show will be held at the Soekarno-Hatta airport,
\nJakarta, from June 26 to July 1 next year, chief of the air
\nshow's Organizing Committee, Wisnubroto, said on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Wisnubroto said that some committee members are launching
\ncampaigns by visiting several countries to promote the event and
\ninviting those countries which performed well during the
\nInternational Air Show in 1986 at Kemayoran airport in Central
\nJakarta, to take part again in next year's event.<\/p>\n
The 1996 exhibition will also feature aircraft acrobatic
\nshows, Wisnubroto said.<\/p>\n
Wisnubroto said the committee would collect money from the air
\nshow's visitors entrance fees and from the participants for space
\nrented but he pointed out that the exhibition is not a commercial
\nevent.<\/p>\n
Wisnubroto refused to reveal the total cost of the 1996 air
\nshow.<\/p>\n
Deputy chairman of the Agency for Technology Assessment and
\nApplication, Harijono Djojodihardjo, said the exhibition is an
\nevent reflecting the aircraft industries' sense of responsibility
\nto the public.<\/p>\n
Harijono also said that the committee and two ministries, the
\nPublic Works Ministry and the Transportation Ministry, are now
\nconstructing new roads to reach Soekarno-Hatta airport, arranging
\nshuttle buses and many other public facilities.<\/p>\n
He said the agency has appointed PT Royalindo Expoduta to hold
\na seminar discussing various aspects in aeronautic industries.<\/p>\n
The seminar is expected to be attended by high ranking civil
\nofficials as well as high ranking military officers from the host
\ncountry, countries in the Asia Pacific region, Middle East,
\nEurope and the U.S. (mas)<\/p>",
