        "content": "<p>Jakarta to host cultural festival<\/p>\n<p>A special cultural festival aimed at enhancing cultural ties<br>\namong ASEAN (the Association of Southeast Asian Nations) member<br>\ncountries will be held in Jakarta in September.<\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by the ASEAN program consultant and the Grahana<br>\nCasta, the festival will include cultural performances such as<br>\ndance and music shows, art exhibitions and tourism promotional<br>\nactivities from the member countries.<\/p>\n<p>ASEAN groups Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam,<br>\nSingapore, Thailand and the Philippines.<\/p>\n<p>The festival will be held at the Shangri-La Hotel on Sept. 3,<br>\nSonni Gondokusumo, the chairman of the organizing committee,<br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Sonni said yesterday that the festival will also be<br>\nhighlighted by a beauty contest called Putri Budaya ASEAN. Each<br>\nmember country is expected to send three contestants aged between<br>\n17 and 24.<\/p>\n<p>The contestants will stay in Jakarta for ten days and take<br>\npart in various cultural and social events.<\/p>\n<p>The proceeds from the festival will be donated to finance<br>\nsocial foundations's dealing with narcotic addicts.
