Jakarta to host copyright seminar<\/p>\n
JAKARTA: Delegates from 23 Asia and Pacific countries are to
\nattend a seminar here later this month to discuss strategies and
\npolicies for the protection of intellectual property rights, a
\nsenior official said.<\/p>\n
Abdul Bari Azed, the director general of intellectual property
\nrights at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, said the
\nseminar would focus on exchanging information, experiences, and
\ncomparative studies of the various countries' efforts to curb
\ncopyright piracy.<\/p>\n
\"We hope we can build coordination in law enforcement at both
\nthe national and international levels to fight the piracy of
\nintellectual property rights as this is categorized as a
\ntransnational crime,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Titled the Asia Pacific Regional Symposium on the Protection
\nand Enforcement of Copyright and Related Rights, the event will
\ntake place from Jan. 27 to Jan. 29.<\/p>\n
Bari added that the seminar would also feature experts from
\nIndonesia, Australia, Hungary, India, Japan and the World
\nIntellectual Property Organization (WIPO). --JP<\/p>",
