Participants will receive wages equivalent to the Jakarta\nProvincial Minimum Wage (UMP), which is around Rp5.7 million per month,\nwith the sole requirement being possession of a Jakarta identity card\n(KTP). Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung stated the programme is a direct\nresponse to the economic pressures beginning to be felt within the\ncommunity. \u201cWe are opening this labour-intensive programme as a\nshort-term social cushion so that people can continue to work and earn\nan income,\u201d Pramono said in a written statement on Wednesday (17\/6).\nSpecial Staff to the Governor, Chico Hakim, said the programme reflects\nthe governor\u2019s commitment to building Jakarta from the ground up and\nalleviating social pressures by providing inclusive and targeted\nemployment. \u201cThrough the Labour-Intensive Programme, we are not only\nopening job opportunities but also ensuring this assistance truly\nreaches those in need, thereby helping to reduce unemployment and boost\neconomic turnover at the sub-district and neighbourhood levels,\u201d Chico\nstated.
