        "content": "<p>Jakarta promotes tourism aboard<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Deputy Governor for Public Welfare Affairs Tb<br>\nRais kicked off a two-day promotion tour in Rotterdam, the<br>\nNetherlands, on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech at a luncheon to mark the opening of the<br>\npromotion, Rais said that as Jakarta does not possess any natural<br>\nbeauty the main focus of the promotion is conventions.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta has various advantages in the field due to the<br>\navailability of large-scale and well-known convention facilities<br>\nand exhibition centers, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Rais said that besides Rotterdam the promotion team will also<br>\nvisit Eindhoven in the Netherlands.<\/p>\n<p>The promotion in the Netherlands is part of the city<br>\nadministration's plan to promote Indonesia's tourist industry in<br>\nEurope.<\/p>\n<p>Rais was quoted by Antara as saying this year the economic<br>\ngrowth of Jakarta is 8.75 percent, which is much higher than the<br>\nnational economic growth of only 6.9 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Rais said that the rapid economic growth has created more<br>\nemployment opportunities and to cope with the extra commuters the<br>\ncity administration is currently considering building a mass<br>\nrapid transportation system.<\/p>\n<p>The administration also promotes the concept of land<br>\nreclamation on the north shore of the city.<\/p>\n<p>The opening ceremony in Rotterdam held with the theme of \"An<br>\nevening in Jakarta\" was attended by local businessmen and city<br>\nadministration officials.<\/p>\n<p>The guests were entertained by traditional Indonesian dances<br>\nfrom Betawi, Central Java, West Sumatra and Aceh. Some of the<br>\ndances were performed by dancers from Elly Kasim dance studio.<\/p>\n<p>The agency said that the guests were also treated to a fashion<br>\nshow from Indonesian noted designer Biyan. Biyan showed 60<br>\noutfits from his latest collection.<\/p>\n<p>The guests were served traditional Indonesian food. (mas)<\/p>",
