The deadly incident reportedly began when an online taxi experienced\nproblems and stopped at a railroad crossing on Ampera Street. The\nvehicle obstructed the passing commuter train, causing it to stop on the\ntracks.<\/p>\n
The situation quickly worsened when the halted commuter train was\nstruck from behind by the Argo Bromo Anggrek train, en route from\nJakarta Gambir to Surabaya Pasar Turi. The violent collision caused\nsevere damage to the trains.<\/p>\n
Preliminary data shows the total number of victims has reached 106,\nwith 46 still receiving medical treatment and 44 already discharged.\nMeanwhile, 16 people have died.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe increase in the number of fatalities is of concern to us. We\nhope there are no further casualties,\u201d Budi said.<\/p>\n
Amid the investigation, authorities said the victims\u2019 care remains a\npriority. Medical and psychological support continues to be provided to\nsurvivors and the bereaved families.<\/p>\n
