The Jakarta Information Commission has expressed its condolences over\nthe victims of the 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Nagekeo Regency,\nEast Nusa Tenggara, and urged that information regarding the condition\nof victims and disaster handling be conveyed quickly, accurately,\ntransparently, and in a manner easily accessible to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe express our deepest sorrow over the loss of life, and extend our\nmost profound condolences to the families of the victims,\u201d said Harry\nAra Hutabarat, Chairman of the Jakarta Information Commission, in\nJakarta on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He prayed that all those who perished would be granted the best place\nbeside God Almighty, and that the bereaved families would be given\nstrength, fortitude, and comfort.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe also pray that our brothers and sisters who have been injured\nwill be granted a swift recovery,\u201d he said, adding, \u201cand that all\naffected communities will always be granted safety, protection, and\nstrength in facing these difficult times.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said this disaster serves as a reminder to everyone of the\nimportance of solidarity, compassion, information transparency, and\nmutual cooperation in facing any emergency or disaster.<\/p>\n
The Jakarta Provincial Information Commission urged that immediate\ninformation concerning the public interest regarding the condition of\nvictims and the needs of affected communities, as well as the evacuation\nprocess, humanitarian aid, and disaster management measures, be conveyed\nquickly, accurately, transparently, and in a manner easily accessible to\nthe public.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll of this is expected to take into account the protection of\npersonal data. May all elements of the nation unite to help the people\nof NTT through this difficult time,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Previously, the Head of the National Disaster Management Agency,\nLieutenant General TNI Suharyanto, said that 31 aftershocks had occurred\non Saturday following the 7.7 magnitude earthquake in Nagekeo Regency,\nEast Nusa Tenggara.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency has provided\ninformation that as of 3 p.m. today, 31 aftershocks have occurred,\u201d\nSuharyanto said during an online press conference in Jakarta on\nSaturday.<\/p>\n
