        "content": "<p>The Jakarta Information Commission (KI DKI) continues to build\nawareness of public information openness and personal data protection\nthrough a series of outreach and education programmes for public service\nbodies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery person has the right to obtain public information. However,\ninformation openness must also go hand in hand with personal data\nprotection,\u201d said KI DKI Chairman Harry Ara Hutabarat in Jakarta on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p>He said public bodies need to understand and distinguish between\ninformation that can be provided to the public and information that must\nbe protected.<\/p>\n<p>Requests for public information, he said, are not made personally to\nofficers, but through the Information and Documentation Management\nOfficer (PPID).<\/p>\n<p>According to Harry, public information has different characteristics,\nincluding information that is available at all times, information that\nis announced periodically, and information that must be announced\nimmediately.<\/p>\n<p>He said information openness has a constitutional basis, one of which\nis Article 28F of the 1945 Constitution. In addition, the implementation\nof information openness also refers to Law Number 14 of 2008 on Public\nInformation Openness as well as regulations related to personal data\nprotection.<\/p>\n<p>The activity served as an educational space for the staff of\nCilincing Regional General Hospital (RSUD Cilincing) regarding the\nimportance of Public Information Openness (KIP) as well as personal data\nprotection in the delivery of public services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe outreach is directed at improving public bodies\u2019 understanding\nof the public\u2019s right to information as well as the limits in managing\nand conveying information to the public,\u201d said Harry.<\/p>\n<p>KI DKI hopes that understanding of information openness and personal\ndata protection will be increasingly applied in daily services at RSUD\nCilincing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe education is part of efforts to encourage public bodies to be\nmore transparent, accountable, and to continue upholding the security\nand protection of public data,\u201d said Harry.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, RSUD Cilincing Director Dr Mirsad said the material\npresented by KI DKI Jakarta provided insight as well as built new\nawareness for the hospital in carrying out public services.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe material presented provided new awareness for us regarding\ninformation openness as well as the importance of personal data\nprotection,\u201d said Mirsad.<\/p>",
