On the evening of Aug. 26, Bekasi administration officials
\ncame to the Pondok Hijau residential area of Bekasi to inspect
\nIDs as part of its operation to catch people with Jakarta IDs now
\nliving in Bekasi.<\/p>\n
My wife was stopped in her car on her way home from Jakarta.
\nThey asked her where she was going and her home address. When
\nthey discovered that her ID was issued in Jakarta, they
\nconfiscated it. My wife later had to complete forms and apply for
\na Bekasi ID.<\/p>\n
We used to live in Jakarta, and she would have told them this,
\nexcept she was not given the opportunity to ask questions. As
\ncitizens we agree with the program of putting IDs in order. But
\nas Jakarta ID holders still working in Jakarta, we need time to
\nput our documents in order. All of our automobile papers,
\npassports, insurance policies and bank savings bear our Jakarta
\naddress.<\/p>\n
I suggest that the Bekasi administration give Jakarta ID
\nholders now living in Bekasi until the expiration date of their
\nIDs to change their personal documents.<\/p>\n
