The Jakarta regional leadership of the Al Washliyah Youth Movement (GPA) has urged all parties to maintain peace and national unity, warning that unity is more important than short-term group interests. The organisation specifically rejected planned protests by several alliances at the DPR building on 27 August 2026 if they carry narratives that could provoke the public or damage public facilities. GPA emphasised that freedom of expression must operate within legal boundaries and that no single alliance may claim to represent the entire Indonesian people.

The Regional Leadership (PW) of the Al Washliyah Youth Movement (GPA)
for DKI Jakarta has called on all parties to maintain peace and unity,
reminding that unity is more important than short-term group interests.
This was conveyed by the Chairman of PW GPA DKI Jakarta, Dedi Siregar,
at a press conference held on Sunday (23/8/2026). He rejected actions
containing provocation, incitement or attempts to damage public
facilities.

“We, the Regional Leadership of the Al Washliyah Youth Movement for
DKI Jakarta, firmly reject the planned demonstration by the Pati United
Community Alliance (AMPB), the United Indonesian People’s Alliance, and
the Indonesian People’s Care Alliance (ARPI) at the DPR building on 27
August 2026 if the action carries narratives that could provoke the
public, contain incitement or cause division, especially if it attempts
to damage public facilities in Jakarta,” said Dedi Siregar in the
Rawamangun area, East Jakarta.

Dedi said his organisation respects demonstrations as part of
democracy. However, he stressed that such freedom must be accompanied by
permissible limits. “We affirm that freedom of expression is an
important part of democracy. However, that freedom must not be
interpreted as unlimited freedom that is then used to build provocation,
spread irresponsible narratives, or pit the public against one another,”
he said.

Dedi reminded groups holding demonstrations not to claim that they
represent the entire Indonesian people. His organisation rejects all
forms of provocation carried out in the name of the people. “PW GP Al
Washliyah DKI rejects all forms of provocation that use the label of the
people as legitimacy to convey group interests. No single alliance may
unilaterally claim to represent the entire Indonesian people as part of
that movement,” he said.

Furthermore, Dedi reminded the entire community to help safeguard
Jakarta. He stressed that Jakarta is a shared home. “We call on everyone
to protect Jakarta, protect unity. We remind that Jakarta is a shared
home. Differences in views, stances and choices must not become a reason
to pit fellow citizens against one another. It is too great to be
jeopardised by group interests. National unity is far more important
than short-term interests,” he added.

The following is the statement of position issued by PW GP Al
Washliyah DKI Jakarta:

Rejecting all forms of provocation in the name of the people if
the narrative carried has the potential to divide national unity and
integrity.

Affirming that the Pati United Community Alliance (AMPB), the
United Indonesian People’s Alliance (ARIB) and the Indonesian People’s
Care Alliance (ARPI) have no legitimacy to claim to represent the entire
Indonesian people or nation.

We, PW GP Al Washliyah DKI Jakarta, want Jakarta to remain
peaceful. We respect the public’s right to express aspirations, but the
action must not turn into provocation, anarchic acts, or cause chaos in
Jakarta.

We reject all forms of provocation and actions that could trigger
chaos in Jakarta.

We want Jakarta to be a place for expressing aspirations
peacefully, not an arena. If there are issues, let them be conveyed
peacefully. No party should deliberately provoke the situation.

Inviting the Indonesian public to maintain unity, not to be
easily provoked by unverified information, and to prioritise dialogue
and constitutional mechanisms in resolving every issue.

Reject provocation. Reject confrontational actions. Protect
unity. Protect peace in Jakarta.

",
