Sekolah Rakyat Menengah Atas 10 South Jakarta held an Open House for\nparents and prospective students on Friday (3\/7), attended by Jakarta\nGovernor Pramono Anung. During the event, Pramono expressed his full\nreadiness to support the development of Sekolah Rakyat.<\/p>\n
Pramono made this statement in response to an explanation from the\nMinister of Social Affairs, Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul), stating that\nJakarta requires an accelerated increase in Sekolah Rakyat capacity to\naccommodate 1,000 students. This acceleration is necessary because,\ncurrently, Jakarta only possesses one permanent Sekolah Rakyat.<\/p>\n
\u201cI certainly welcome this, as the Governor wishes to meet the\nPresident\u2019s hope that specifically for Jakarta, there will be additional\npilot schools capable of accommodating no fewer than one thousand\nSekolah Rakyat students in Jakarta,\u201d said Gus Ipul.<\/p>\n
He explained that the Ministry of Social Affairs is providing 10\npilot school sites to accommodate 1,000 students, eight of which are\ncurrently undergoing renovation. These sites include locations in the\nLAN Pejompongan building, Marunda, and Curug.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will prepare in depth the locations that could potentially be\nused for Sekolah Rakyat to accommodate one thousand students,\u201d said\nPramting.<\/p>\n
The Governor\u2019s arrival at 16:30 WIB was met with various performances\nby Sekolah Rakyat students, ranging from cheers and marching variations,\nBetawi \u2018Gadis Bersolek\u2019 dance, karate, speeches in three languages\n(Mandarin, Arabic, and English), to choirs and poetry.<\/p>\n
Moved by the reception, Pramono shared stories of his childhood in\nKediri, where his parents, both teachers, raised eight children,\nincluding himself. He noted that his ability to attend school relied\nheavily on government scholarships.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf it were not for government assistance through scholarships, it\nwould not have been possible. That is why I have been listening to what\nthe Minister of Social Affairs said, and enjoying what the children have\npresented,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also expressed his admiration for the students\u2019 performances,\nstating, \u201cWhat our children displayed today was extraordinary and serves\nas inspiration. It is an inspiration for the future so that they all\ntruly become resilient children.\u201d<\/p>\n
Pramono believes that Sekolah Rakyat represents a new hope for\nlow-income families to access quality education. \u201cHopefully, this\nbecomes a long-term investment for the children of all of you,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
Pramono further noted that Sekolah Rakyat aligns with Jakarta\u2019s\npriority programmes, such as the Jakarta Smart Card (KJP), the Superior\nStudent Card, and the amnesty for diploma redemption fees. At SRMA 10\nSouth Jakarta, 90 students are currently recorded as KJP recipients.<\/p>\n
