        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com \u2013 The operation of the Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF)\nPlant in Rorotan, North Jakarta, involves community elements to\naccommodate aspirations regarding challenges and issues occurring on the\nground.<\/p>\n<p>The community, consisting of RW chairmen or community leaders, is\ndirectly involved as members of the Working Team for Monitoring RDF\nPlant Operations in Jakarta, in accordance with the Decree of the\nSecretary of the Special Capital Region of Jakarta Province No.\u00a018 of\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Jakarta Environmental Agency Asep Kuswanto stated that\nthe involvement of residents in the Working Team can provide input\nregarding the operation of the Rorotan RDF Plant.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, aspirations from the community can serve as\nmaterial for evaluation to continuously improve the operation of this\nfacility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope that the Working Team for Monitoring RDF Plant Operations in\nJakarta can continue to provide input so that the management of this\nfacility becomes even better. We also request support and participation\nfrom the community,\u201d said Asep at the coordination meeting held on\nThursday (2\/4\/2025).<\/p>\n<p>In the coordination meeting held by DLH Jakarta through the\nIntegrated Waste Management Unit (UPST), the Working Team received\nexplanations about the mitigation measures that have been carried out,\nparticularly regarding odour issues.<\/p>\n<p>Asep acknowledged that there are still shortcomings in the operation\nof the Rorotan RDF Plant. However, he stated that his side is\ncontinuously striving to ensure that the operation of this waste\nprocessing facility runs without disturbing the comfort of the\nsurrounding community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are continuously striving to make various improvements. These\nefforts are aimed at reducing environmental and social impacts. With the\nWorking Team, we can receive aspirations from residents as a source of\nevaluation,\u201d said Asep.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, based on reports from several members of the\nWorking Team in areas around the RDF, the odour that was once detected\nhas gradually decreased. The UPST continues to make improvements and\nrepairs and communicates them with residents.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Pollution Control and Environmental Damage Division\n(PPKL) of DLH DKI Jakarta Erni Pelita Fitratunnisa stated that the odour\ndetected is likely originating from unsorted waste and improper waste\ntransportation.<\/p>\n<p>The waste transportation issue has been addressed by using compactor\ntrucks to prevent odour and leachate from scattering. Meanwhile, for\nodour issues, DLH Jakarta relies on the Air Quality Monitoring Station\n(SPKU) that can monitor continuously.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to preparing a\ngood waste processing system so as not to cause unrest. We have\nconducted monitoring regarding how high the odour levels that emerge,\u201d\nsaid Fitri at the coordination meeting.<\/p>",
