        "content": "<p>The Jakarta Education Agency (Disdik) has admitted that many state\nschool buildings in the capital are old and in need of repair. Head of\nthe Jakarta Education Agency Nahdiana stated that this is one of the\nreasons the Provincial Government is mapping schools to be prioritised\nfor revitalisation. \u201cIf we classify the construction, there are\nbuildings that were built before I was even born,\u201d Nahdiana said during\na working meeting with Commission E of the Jakarta Regional House of\nRepresentatives (DPRD DKI) in Gambir, Central Jakarta, on Monday. Based\non agency data, Nahdiana noted that some schools were established before\n1947. Several of these are heritage buildings, requiring special\nhandling. \u201cSo, some of these are heritage buildings, there are 13 of\nthem,\u201d she explained. She added that only about 40 per cent of school\nbuildings in Jakarta were constructed within the last 20 years. This\nmeans many school buildings are over 20 years old and require attention.\nTo address this, Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has formed a Team for\nthe Acceleration of School Building Revitalisation. \u201cThe advisors are\nthe Assistant for Development and Environment and the Assistant for\nPeople\u2019s Welfare. The chairperson is the Deputy Head of the Education\nAgency, with the secretaries being the Head of the Educational\nFacilities and Infrastructure Unit and the Head of the Building Division\nat the Regional Building and Public Works Agency. Members include the\nInspector, all Mayors, the Regional Development Planning Agency, the\nRegional Financial Management Agency, the Regional Asset Management\nAgency, the Public Works Agency, the Investment and One-Stop Services\nAgency, the Communication and Information Agency, the Environmental\nAgency, the Regional Goods and Services Procurement Bureau, and the\nSocial Welfare Bureau,\u201d Nahdiana detailed. Nahdiana further explained\nthat the team will not only check the 22 schools previously listed for\nrevitalisation. The team will also inspect other schools suspected of\nhaving damage so that development priorities can be more accurately\ntargeted. \u201cLater it will be seen whether a school does not need a total\noverhaul, only heavy repairs, and so on. Because the team will determine\nthe development priorities. So, simply put, everything will be tidied up\nat once,\u201d Nahdiana said.
