Rany Mauliani, Deputy Speaker of the DKI Jakarta Regional\nRepresentative Council (DPRD), has called for firm sanctions against a\n34-year-old man, identified as MY, who sent a bomb threat to SDN\nSrengseng Sawah 15 Pagi in Jagakarsa, South Jakarta. She said MY\u2019s idea\nof a joke was not funny.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow that the perpetrator has been caught and secured, I ask that he\nbe given a sanction with a deterrent effect. Not merely an apology and a\nsettlement, with the matter considered resolved on the grounds that it\nwas a joke, because this joke was not funny and was completely out of\nplace,\u201d Rany told reporters on Tuesday (14 July 2026).<\/p>\n
Rany worried that if MY\u2019s actions were resolved amicably, similar\nincidents could recur in future, with threats that were no longer mere\njokes. She urged the authorities not to hesitate to prosecute MY under\nthe law.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are, of course, responsible for the lives, safety and comfort of\nthe pupils at the school,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Echoing Rany\u2019s view, Taufik Zoelkifli, a member of Commission B of\nthe DKI Jakarta DPRD from the PKS faction, also wants MY to be held\nlegally accountable for his actions. He said MY\u2019s behaviour had\nterrified the pupils and teachers at the school.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn my view, the perpetrator must still be held legally responsible,\nso he should not be released just because he was messing around. He must\nbe held legally accountable,\u201d said Taufik.<\/p>\n
He urged the public not to engage in excessive pranks. In his view,\nspreading threats of criminal acts must not be treated as a joke.<\/p>\n
\u201cI urge the public not to take pranks beyond reasonable limits.\nMatters of security such as bomb threats and criminal threats should not\nbe treated as jokes,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
As previously reported, the perpetrator admitted he had acted out of\nboredom when sending the terror threat to SDN Srengseng Sawah 15 Pagi.\nThe message was received by a teacher and a member of the school\u2019s\nadministrative staff.<\/p>\n
The perpetrator also made a phone call after his threatening message\nwent unanswered. In the message, the perpetrator claimed to have planted\nbombs at 11 locations.<\/p>\n

The threat was sent while pupils were holding their morning assembly.\nAfter a sweep by the Gegana team and the Densus 88 counter-terrorism\nunit, no explosive materials were found at the location.<\/p>\n
The perpetrator currently remains a witness.
