Between January and May 2026, long-distance train services, local
trains, the Cikarang Commuter Line, and the Whoosh high-speed rail
supporting Jakarta–Bandung mobility served 44.05 million passengers, an
8.20 per cent increase compared to the 4-0.71 million passengers
recorded during the same period in 2025.

Jakarta–Bandung remains one of the most dynamic mobility corridors.
Travel for work, education, family visits, tourism, and onward journeys
to various stations in West Java has led to increasingly diverse
requirements for rail-based transport on this route.

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) noted that passengers travelling
from Jakarta to Bandung now have a wide range of service options. In
addition to the Parahyangan train as the primary service for the
Gambir–Bandung round trip, passengers can also utilise the Papandayan,
Pangandaran, Cikuray, and Serayu trains depending on their departure and
arrival stations, travel needs, and service preferences.

KAI Vice President of Corporate Communication, Anne Purba, stated
that this variety of services demonstrates that Jakarta–Bandung travel
is becoming increasingly flexible. Passengers can choose between
long-distance trains, local feeder services, or high-speed rail
according to their mobility needs.

“Jakarta–Bandung mobility continues to grow. Therefore, KAI is
providing various service options so that passengers can tailor their
journeys to their needs, ranging from direct trips to Bandung Station,
access to Kiaracondong and Cimahi Stations, to onward travel to Garut,
Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, Banjar, and Purwokerto,” said Anne.

The Parahyangan train serves as the direct service from Gambir to
Bandung round trip. This train is the primary choice for passengers
travelling between Jakarta and Bandung for work, education, family, or
weekend tourism. By directly connecting these two major activity
centres, the Parahyangan train plays a vital role in supporting public
mobility on the Jakarta–Bandung route.

Between January and May 2026, the Parahyangan train served 475,072
passengers, a 38.57 per cent increase compared to the 342,837 passengers
during the same period in 2025. This growth reflects the strong demand
for direct travel between Jakarta and Bandung.

In addition to the Parahyangan train, passengers from Jakarta can
also use the Papandayan train on the Gambir–Garut round trip route. This
train stops at Bandung Station, making it an option for Jakarta
passengers heading to Bandung who wish to continue their journey to
Garut. The presence of the Papandayan train expands service options for
passengers requiring connectivity from Jakarta to Bandung and Garut
Stations.

From January to May 2026, the Papandayan train served 180,640
passengers, an 18.91 per cent increase compared to 151,919 passengers in
January–May 2025. This performance shows that the Jakarta–Bandung–Garut
route is becoming increasingly relevant for passengers needing access to
major stations in Bandung and Garut.

Another option is the Pangandaran train on the Gambir–Banjar round
trip route. This train also stops at Bandung Station, serving as an
alternative for travel from Jakarta to Bandung. Meanwhile, the
Pangandarium train strengthens onward access from Bandung to stations in
the East Priangan region, such as Tasikmalaya, Ciamis, and Banjar.

Between January and May 2026, the Pangandaran train served 146,160
passengers. During the same period in 2025, it served 163,349
passengers. Although passenger volume corrected by 10.52 per cent during
this period, the Pangandaran train remains an important part of
expanding connectivity between Jakarta, Bandung, and East Priangan.

For passengers departing from Pasar Senen, the Cikuray train on the
Pasar Senen–Garut round trip route is available. This train stops at
Bandung Station and serves as a travel option from Jakarta to Bandung
with onward access to Garut. This service is widely used by passengers
seeking intercity travel with more affordable fares.

The Cikuray train served 266,993 passengers in January–May 2026, a
7.13 per cent increase compared to 249,218 passengers in January–May
2025. This figure demonstrates the role of the Cikuray train in
supporting public travel from Jakarta to Bandung and Garut.

Meanwhile, the Serayu train on the Pasar Senen–Purwokerto round trip
route also serves as an alternative for passengers from Jakarta to
stations in the Greater Bandung area. The Serayu train does not stop at
Bandung Station but serves stops such as Kiaracondong and Cimahi. Thus,
the Serayu train remains relevant for passengers heading to Bandung via
Kiaracondong or Cimahi Stations.

Between January and May 2026, the Serayu train served 568,759
passengers, a 3.14 per cent increase compared to 551,465 passengers in
the same period in 2025. This service strengthens public access from
Jakarta to Kiaracondong, Cimahi, and other stations on the Pasar
Senen–Purwokerto route.

In addition to long-distance trains, passengers can also utilise a
combination of Commuter Line and local train services. From Jakarta,
passengers can use the Cikarang Commuter Line to reach the Bekasi and
Cikarang areas, then continue their journey using local trains to
Purwakarta and stations within the Greater Bandung area.

The Cikarang Commuter Line served 36,294,605 passengers between
January and May 2026, an 8.28 per cent increase compared to 33,519,333
passengers in January–May 2025. This service is a vital part of daily
mobility for the Jabodetabek community, while also providing onward
access to local services in West Java.

From the Cikarang area and its surroundings, passengers can continue
their journey using the Walahar train on the Cikarang–Purwakarta round
trip route. In January–May 2026, the Walahar train served 1,807,649
passengers, a 7.85 per cent increase compared to 1,676,008 passengers in
January–May 2025.

Additionally, the Jatiluhur train on the Cikarang–Cikampek round trip
route is also part of the local connectivity in the eastern Jabodetabek
and West Java regions. The Jatiluhur train served 575,8…
",
