        "content": "<p>Jakarta Auto Expo next week<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Without the participation of the two most<br>\npowerful local automotive companies, the eighth Jakarta Auto Expo<br>\nwill carry on next week, an executive of the Indonesian<br>\nAutomotive Industry Association said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>The association's chairman, Herman Latif, said that Minister<br>\nof Industry Tunky Ariwibowo is scheduled to officially open the<br>\none-week exhibition at the Jakarta Convention Center on July 15.<\/p>\n<p>Herman declined to comment on the planned absence of Toyota<br>\nAstra Motor and Indomobil, saying only, \"I can understand their<br>\nreasons\".<\/p>\n<p>Industry sources say the two powerful vehicle assemblers are<br>\nnot going to participate because they are preparing for August's<br>\nIndonesian Products Exhibition, which occurs once every five<br>\nyears.<\/p>\n<p>Jakarta Auto Expo, which will cost Rp 1.25 billion (US$560<br>\nmillion) to mount, is expected to attract seven local automotive<br>\nassemblers, including Krama Yudha, Jakarta Motors, General Motor<br>\nBuana Indonesia, Stars Auto Dinamika, Citra Mobil Nasional and<br>\nIndonesia Republik Motor Co., 15 component manufacturers, four<br>\ncar audio manufacturers and 18 automotive-related companies.<\/p>\n<p>\"We want to make this exhibition an international-class<br>\nautomotive event,\" Herman said, adding that the exhibition would<br>\ndisplay not only locally-produced vehicles but also a number of<br>\nforeign-made \"future\" cars, including the Chrysler Neon, Dodge<br>\nViper, Opel Corsa, Mercedes Benz S-320 L, Hyundai Accent and<br>\nDaewoo sedans.
