More\nthan that, Jakarta is also committed to building attractiveness,\nidentity, security, and international networks. \u201cTherefore, the DKI\nJakarta Provincial Government continues to develop tourism, culture, the\ncreative economy, and historic areas as new interaction spaces for\ncitizens, as well as attractions for tourists,\u201d Rano said in Jakarta on\nMonday (22\/6). Rano mentioned that efforts to strengthen the city\u2019s\nidentity are being carried out through the development of the Kota Tua\narea and the revitalisation of Setu Babakan as the Betawi Cultural\nCentre. In addition, the DKI Provincial Government is also strengthening\nPasar Baru as a historic trading area, as well as arranging other\nstrategic areas such as PIK and Pulo Gadung as new hubs for economic\nactivity and public spaces. Beyond physical development, various sports,\ncultural, religious, and international-scale events are also\ncontinuously being presented. This step is taken to strengthen Jakarta\u2019s\nposition as a lively, open, and cultured city. Rano stated that the city\u2019s attractiveness must\nbe supported by a sense of security and modern governance. To achieve\nthis, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is now strengthening the use\nof technology through the integration of CCTV cameras into a real-time\ncity monitoring system directly connected to security forces. This step\nis part of an effort to present city governance that is more adaptive,\nmeasurable, responsive, and data-based. He added that all efforts to\nstrengthen mobility, connectivity, security, and city governance have so\nfar yielded positive results. This is reflected in the improvement of\nJakarta\u2019s ranking from 74 to 71 in the Global City Index, as well as its\nposition as the second safest city in Southeast Asia.
