Indonesia’s mixed doubles pairing Jafar Hidayatullah and Felisha
Alberta Nathaniel Pasaribu booked a place in the All England 2026 round
of 16 after their win at Utilita Arena Birmingham on Wednesday, 4 March,
against China’s Gao Jia Xuan and Wu Meng Ying in straight games, 24-22
and 21-13. The victory was hard-fought, particularly in the first game,
where the pairs traded blows and reached deuce before Jafar/Felisha
edged ahead.

With the second game, Jafar/Felisha grew more dominant as pressure
from their opponents eased, allowing them to close out the match
convincingly. “First of all, alhamdulillah we could finish the match
without injury and win today. But our performance isn’t at 100 percent
yet. There is still much to improve, especially after what happened in
the first game,” Jafar said.

Echoing his partner, Felisha noted that the Chinese duo’s resistance
in the early stages was tough. She said the high intensity shown by the
opponents was expected for the opening round of this Super 1000 level
event. A change of pattern late in the first game proved to be the
turning point for their victory. “The opponents played quite well; we
tried to cope but ended up giving away many points. I think it’s natural
in a first-round match that both teams press and fight. At the end of
the first game we tried to find our pattern again, implement it, and it
worked,” Felisha added.

Despite the positive result, tougher tests await Jafar/Felisha in the
next round. In the Round of 16 they will face their compatriots Amri
Syahnawi and Nita Violina Marwah. “It’s a pity that the draw changed —
we will now have to meet a fellow Indonesian in the Round of 16. If the
draw had remained as before, perhaps both teams could have progressed
further together. Tomorrow, one of us will surely have to lose,” Felisha
concluded. (Ndf/P-3)

Amri Syahnawi/Nita Violina Marwah reported that Japan’s
Midorikawa/Natsu Saito’s solid defense made their Denmark Open campaign
difficult, losing 13-21 and 20-22. Amri/Nita had a strong Korea Open
2025, reaching the semi-finals before falling to Chinese pair Feng Yan
Zhe/Huang Dong Ping 20-22 and 12-21. The Indonesian mixed doubles duo
then had to end their Korea Open 2025 campaign in the semi-finals. In
their most recent meeting, Amri/Nita were edged in rubber by
Midorikawa/Saito. They now booked a place in the Round of 16 after
beating the British duo Callum Hemming and Estelle Van Leeuwen in
straight games, 21-17 and 21-13.
",
