Jaecoo Indonesia harbours a strategy to prioritise New Energy Vehicles (NEVs), with a phased approach from affordable SUV-EVs to premium offerings. The firm is pushing the J5 EV and J5 SHS hybrid while planning the J7 and J8 for mid-range and premium segments, aiming to broaden NEV penetration in Indonesia; launches will follow market assessments and schedules.

TANGERANG, KOMPAS.com – Jaecoo Indonesia has affirmed its product
strategy direction in the Indonesian automotive market, focusing on New
Energy Vehicles (NEV). This step is part of the company’s roadmap to
strengthen its electrification product line in the country. Jaecoo
Indonesia’s Head of Marketing, Ilham Pratama, said that this year the
company will continue to focus on NEVs, although the launch timing of
new products is still awaiting market review. He added that if market
demand points to a particular type, the company has prepared a
corresponding model, but launches will follow the timeline already set.
Currently, Jaecoo has introduced several models representing different
configurations, such as the J5 and J7 with two rows or five passengers,
and the J8 with three rows or seven passengers. “For the price segment,
we look at the market. In other words, an SUV-EV priced under Rp 300
million with SUV specifications, the demand is quite high. I could even
say it is very high. Yes, this is already in the J5,” said Ilham. In
addition to the J5 EV which has been marketed in Indonesia since
November 2025, Jaecoo is also preparing a hybrid version option, the J5
SHS. “If needed, globally we already have the product. So it’s just a
matter of adjusting to the Indonesian market,” he said. The features of
the J5 SHS include the ADAS system (adaptive cruise control, blind-spot
detection), 13.2-inch infotainment screen, 8-inch digital cluster,
540-degree camera, six airbags, premium interior with cooled seats,
wireless charging, and soundproof glass. With a more affordable price,
the J5 SHS also becomes part of Jaecoo’s strategy to reach the
entry-level segment, in line with high demand for the J5 EV. “There will
be a moment to introduce the latest products. For now our focus is on
the J5, because this model attracts a very large share. After that, only
the J7 and J8, which are still being developed,” said Ilham. In addition
to focusing on entry-level electric SUVs like the J5 EV, Jaecoo is also
preparing a layered pricing strategy for various segments. The J7 model
is positioned in the mid-range segment with prices Rp 400 million - Rp
500 million, while the J8 targets the premium market with prices
starting Rp 600 million up to Rp 828 million for the SHS variant. With
this strategy, Jaecoo hopes to broaden NEV penetration in Indonesia,
while providing electric and hybrid SUVs with a range of configurations
and prices to suit consumer needs.
",
