Two percent is deducted from the
monthly salary of the employees concerned, while 3.7 percent is
paid by the company. So the company will pay 5.7 percent of the
employees' salaries to the Jamsostek every month.

I began to work at Delta Silikon Park in Cikarang, Bekasi, in
1996 and have been a Jamsostek participant this whole time (I
have my Jamsostek card).

I left the company in 2002 and would like to collect my Worker
Social Security at the Bekasi office of Jamsostek. Unfortunately,
I was told the company had paid for the JHT program only up to
1999. When I contacted the company I was told that the fee could
be paid by the company when an employee quit, and that the
company would deposit only 2 percent, deducted from the salary of
the employees. As for the 3.7 percent portion, I was told that it
depended on the company's willingness.

I would like two relevant authorities -- Jamsostek in Bekasi
and the manpower ministry -- to explain whether this is true that
the company is not obliged to pay its 3.7 percent portion and
whether or not the contribution can be deposited when a
particular employee has quit.

In fact, every month the company deducts the contribution fee
for Jamsostek from the employees' salaries. So what is the use of
the JHT under the Worker Social Security scheme for workers?

NELLY

Bekasi, West Java
",
