It's all about corruption<\/p>\n
From Koran Tempo<\/p>\n
I would like to straighten out the terminology in Kurie
\nSuditomo's article. In the first paragraph of his story in Koran
\nTempo, on May 9, "Halliburton mendulang dari poros setan"
\n(Halliburton pans for gold from axis of evil), Kurie writes,
\n"Such a superpower like the U.S. is not aware of the danger of
\ncronyism, which, in Indonesia, is known as KKN."<\/p>\n
KKN stands for corruption, collusion and nepotism. Meanwhile,
\ncronyism is another variant of disgraceful acts committed by
\npublic officials, in addition to collusion and nepotism. All of
\nthem, however, end in corruption, which is an abuse of power to
\nenrich oneself or other persons. If other people are relatives,
\nit is nepotism. If they are only friends, the relationship is
\ntermed cronyism. Collusion involves neither relatives nor
\nfriends.<\/p>\n
Therefore, within the context of Soeharto's corruption, his
\nconnections with Siti Hardijanti Rukmana, Bambang Trihatmodjo,
\nTommy Suharto and Probosutedjo are nepotism. The cases of Sudono
\nSalim, Bob Hasan and other such bosses are examples of cronyism.
\nOthers who enjoyed the benefit of such relations, but who were
\nnot close to Soeharto, fall within the category of collusion.<\/p>\n
