The program, launched at ITB\u2019s Ganesha Campus in Bandung on Monday,\nis designed to build an innovation ecosystem that connects students,\nyoung alumni, and startups with the global aerospace industry.<\/p>\n
The Director General of Research and Development at the Ministry of\nEducation and Technology, M. Fauzan Adziman, described this\ncollaboration as an ideal model that directly connects industry needs\nwith higher education.<\/p>\n
This approach allows for the development of more relevant research\nand improves graduates\u2019 readiness for the workforce.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe aerospace sector is at the root of many technological\ninnovations. Collaborations like this not only strengthen research but\nalso open up opportunities for the birth of startups and new industrial\necosystems with broad impact,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He added that the BUILD program will also encourage the integration\nof activities such as internships, industry-based research, and the\ndevelopment of superior materials, including the potential utilization\nof national resources such as nickel for advanced technology.<\/p>\n
ITB Rector Tatacipta Dirgantara stated that the BUILD program\nembodies the synergy between universities and global industry in\nbuilding a sustainable innovation ecosystem.<\/p>\n
Through this program, participants will receive direct mentoring from\nBoeing to develop their ideas and innovations until they are ready for\nimplementation.<\/p>\n
\u201cUntil now, many aspiring technology entrepreneurs have not been\ndirectly connected to large industries. Through BUILD, Boeing acts as an\nanchor, providing mentors and building an ecosystem, thus increasing the\nchances of innovation success downstream,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also emphasized the importance of cross-sector collaboration in\ndriving the growth of high-value-added industries in Indonesia,\nparticularly in the aerospace sector, which encompasses a broad spectrum\nof technologies, from electronic systems and materials to sustainable\nfuels and passenger comfort.<\/p>\n
Boeing Indonesia Managing Director Indra Duivenvoorde explained that\nBUILD is designed as an experiential learning program that connects\nparticipants with Boeing experts, industry mentors, and the ITB\ninnovation ecosystem.<\/p>\n
The program, which will run until September 2026, includes workshops,\nmentoring sessions, bootcamps, and idea incubation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis program focuses on developing solutions in the aerospace and\ndefense sectors, including sustainable technologies and social impact.\nBeyond just technical skills, BUILD aims to build leadership,\nconfidence, and cross-sector collaboration capabilities,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
As part of the program, participants will develop ideas based on real\nindustry needs, which will then be tested and refined.<\/p>\n
The top three teams will receive a total of US$12,500 in funding and\nsix months of development support at ITB.<\/p>\n
The launch of BUILD Indonesia 2026 is said to affirm a shared\ncommitment to developing the next generation of innovators and\nstrengthening Indonesia\u2019s position in the global aerospace\necosystem.<\/p>\n
This collaboration is expected to extend beyond the campus level and\nalso foster innovations and startups capable of making a real impact on\nsociety and the national industry.<\/p>\n
