        "content": "<p>ISO-9000 recipients<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Only 70 companies in Indonesia have thus far<br>\nreceived IS0-9000 quality and management certification, far less<br>\nthan the number in neighboring countries, says a senior surveyor.<\/p>\n<p>P. Djoko Tjiptadi, a director of PT Sucofindo, the state-owned<br>\nsurveyor company, said yesterday that the number of ISO-9000<br>\ncertificate recipients in other members of the Association of<br>\nSoutheast Asian Nations (ASEAN) is much higher, reaching 400 in<br>\nMalaysia and over 500 in Singapore.<\/p>\n<p>\"Most Indonesian companies still pay more attention on<br>\nmarketing rather than improving the quality of their products,\"<br>\nhe said in Medan.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a seminar on the ISO-9000 quality and management<br>\ncertification, Djoko was quoted yesterday by Antara as saying<br>\nthat the marketing of products and the improvement of quality<br>\nwould be of similar importance.<\/p>\n<p>\"Adopting the international quality standards is not mandatory<br>\nbut it is the only answer in facing the free market era,\" he<br>\nsaid.(hen)<\/p>",
