        "content": "<p>Ismuhadi's<br>\nlawyer <br>\nblasts <br>\npolice<\/p>\n<p>Sima Gunawan<br>\nThe Jakarta Post<br>\nJakarta<\/p>\n<p>A lawyer denounced the police investigation of Sunday's blast at <br>\nthe Atrium Plaza Senen, saying several things were amiss.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson Panjaitan of the Indonesian Legal Aid and Human Rights <br>\nAssociation (PBHI) said it was strange that one of the key <br>\nwitnesses, Ramli, the owner of the Ford Laser sedan in which the <br>\nexplosives were planted, was a friend of the police.<\/p>\n<p>\"The police know Ramli. I have received reports from reliable <br>\nsources that some of the detectives got along well with him,\" <br>\nJohnson said from city police headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>\"It is strange that they still can't find him and bring him in <br>\nfor questioning as he is a key witness in the blast,\" he added.<\/p>\n<p>Ramli, the owner of a used car lot in the Kebon Jeruk area of <br>\nWest Jakarta, bought the sedan for Rp 15 million (US$1,579) from <br>\nAznani, the wife of Tengku Ismuhadi, who is serving a life <br>\nsentence at Cipinang Penitentiary for his role in the Jakarta <br>\nStock Exchange blast last September.<\/p>\n<p>Aznani, acting on instructions from Ismuhadi, sold the car two <br>\ndays before the bombing took place, a police report said.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson said Ramli was known to have been involved in at least <br>\nthree cases of vehicle-related crimes, but he had not been <br>\nsummoned as a witness.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson said Ramli also had a close relationship with a police <br>\ndetective named Idang.<\/p>\n<p>\"I have talked to officer Idang and he said he knew Ramli very <br>\nwell,\" Johnson, who is the lawyer for Tengku Ismuhadi and Aznani, <br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>\"Ramli is a 'mischievous businessman',\" Johnson quoted Idang <br>\nas saying.<\/p>\n<p>Johnson also said that police were focusing on the car's sales <br>\ntransaction between Aznani and Ramli, and not with finding more <br>\ninformation on how the car was obtained and used in the blast.<\/p>\n<p>\"When police summoned Ismuhadi for questioning (on late <br>\nThursday), they also focused on the car,\" Johnson said, <br>\nadding that he suspected the police would soon charge Ismuhadi as <br>\na suspect in the blast.<\/p>\n<p>Ismuhadi's wife, Aznani, was charged as a suspect in the <br>\nblast.<\/p>\n<p>\"If police really charge him as a suspect, we will immediately <br>\nfile a pretrial suit against the police as they have a lack of <br>\nevidence for charging either Ismuhadi or Aznani as suspects. The <br>\ncar no longer belongs to them,\" Johnson said.<\/p>\n<p>When asked to comment, city police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton <br>\nBachrul Alam said the police would continue the blast <br>\ninvestigation and would uphold the law while carrying out the <br>\ninvestigation.<\/p>",
