Ismail Hasan appoints Jakarta chapter chief<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Braving strong opposition from local senior
\nparty leaders, the United Development Party (PPP) executive board
\nhas appointed new leaders of its Jakarta chapter.<\/p>\n
PPP Chairman Ismail Hasan Metareum said yesterday that the
\nparty decided to install Rusjdi Hamka as the chapter's chairman.<\/p>\n
Leaders of the Jakarta chapter failed in their meetings last
\nmonth to elect their own leaders by the deadline.<\/p>\n
Rusjdi will have nine deputies: Arifin Arbain, Chisbiyah
\nRochim, Sugiat AS, Faizah Fachruddin, Mulyaningsih, Saud Rachman,
\nDja'far Badjeber, Helmi A.R. Syihab, and M. Yahya N.S.<\/p>\n
The central board appointed Achmad Suaidi as secretary of
\nchapter's board, and Husni Bachrum and Ali Imran Husein as vice
\nsecretaries. Elisman Ilyas is appointed treasurer and M. Chudori
\nSyafi'i Hazami as vice treasurer.<\/p>\n
Yusuf Hamdani was named chairman of chapter advisory board,
\nand Muzaini Ramli, Echa Abdullah, Harun Al Rasyid, Arwis
\nRangkuti, Syahria Agamas, and Makmun Bakri as vice chairmen.<\/p>\n
The central board's move last to appoint Rusjdi was rejected
\nby a group of leaders on the outgoing executive board of the
\nJakarta chapter board.<\/p>\n
Deputy chairman Yoenoes Rahman and secretary Mohammad Rodja of
\nthe outgoing board rejected the appointment of Rusjdi. Instead
\nthey appointed Arifin Arbain, who was the leading candidate when
\nthe congress ended inconclusively.<\/p>\n
The chapter leaders, who staked their claim as the organizers
\nof the congress, gave Arifin, Arwis Rangkuti and Zarkasih Marzuki
\na mandate to appoint the new line-up of the chapter's executive
\nboard for the 1995-2000 period. (swe)<\/p>",
