        "content": "<p>Islamic song contest staged in Jakarta<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): Muhammadiyah's culture council is staging an<br>\nIslamic song contest here to mark the upcoming Moslem fasting<br>\nmonth of Ramadhan and the Idul Fitri holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Nasrullah M. Dilla Makkawi, who chairs the organizing<br>\ncommittee, said the contest, entitled Nuansa '99 Lomba Cipta Lagu<br>\nIslam, was being staged to encourage musicians to create songs<br>\nwith an Islamic nuance.<\/p>\n<p>\"It is also intended to trace the extent to which Islam has<br>\ninfluenced developments in the arts and culture,\" he said in a<br>\nstatement made available to The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n<p>He said the contest began on Nov. 15, 1998 and would last<br>\nuntil Feb. 17, 1999.
