        "content": "<p>Islamic boarding school for disabled<\/p>\n<p>SEMARANG: A pesantren  (Islamic boarding school) for the<br>\ndisabled has been founded in Gunungpati district here to provide<br>\nstudents with both religious knowledge and vocational skills.<\/p>\n<p>Manager of the boarding school Rochimin said on Saturday the<br>\nschool activities formally began in mid-2001 and had so far<br>\neducated 200 people with a variety of disabilities.<\/p>\n<p>Founded by the Bhakti Nurani (Bhani) Foundation, the boarding<br>\nschool teaches its students health care, farming and<br>\nentrepreneurship, Rochimin said.<\/p>\n<p>Law No. 4\/1997 on disabled people stipulates that physical<br>\ndisabilities should not deprive people of their rights to, among<br>\nother things, education and jobs.<\/p>\n<p>In the long run, Rochimin said, the boarding school would be<br>\nopen to neglected children.<\/p>\n<p>He added the foundation needed support from local people and<br>\nthe provincial government to survive, as it no longer received<br>\nfinancial aid from the Ministry of Social Affairs due to the<br>\nimplementation of regional autonomy in 2001. -- Antara<\/p>\n<p>;<\/p>",
