Is Kwik ill?<\/p>\n
Taufik Kiemas, the husband of chairwoman of the Indonesian
\nDemocratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) Megawati
\nSoekarnoputri, who is also the nation's president, has suggested
\nthat Kwik Kian Gie, one of the party's chairmen, have a checkup
\n(on his health).<\/p>\n
Taufik's statements were made to journalists who asked for his
\ncomments following Kwik's recent controversial remarks that PDI
\nPerjuangan was the most corrupt party of all.<\/p>\n
Is Taufik thinking that Kwik is in such bad shape that he
\nneeds to check his health? Taufik did not elaborate. However, we
\nknow that Taufik's statement was made to counter Kwik's remark.
\nThe members of PDI Perjuangan must have been hurt by Kwik's
\nvulgar statement and thus denied it.<\/p>\n
Kwik is one of many people in the country who has become very
\nupset and uneasy upon seeing and hearing about corruption. He had
\njust released his new book titled Pemberantasan Korupsi untuk
\nMeraih Kemandirian, Kemakmuran, Kesejahteraan dan Keadilan
\n(Corruption Eradication for Achieving Independence, Prosperity,
\nWelfare and Justice). In the book he said that the public
\n(Indonesians) has been suffering seriously from social illnesses:
\ncorruption, collusion and nepotism. He also said that the public
\nmust be subject to corruption eradication.<\/p>\n
The book also illustrates how a state-owned bank produced
\nspecial accounts that were to be thrown to trash bins and made
\nall of its branches close their books at the same time to show a
\nbalanced position.<\/p>\n
What we do know is that Kwik is "Mr. Clean". He is neither a
\ndreamer nor a lunatic.<\/p>\n
