Iraq, RI sign trade pact<\/p>\n
BAGHDAD (AFP): Iraq and Indonesia signed an agreement
\novernight to expand their economic cooperation, particularly in
\noil exploration, the official Iraqi news agency INA reported
\nFriday.<\/p>\n
The accord was signed by the two countries' respective trade
\nministers, Mohamed Mahdi Saleh and Rahardi Ramelan, at the end of
\nthe fifth round of meetings of their joint economic commission.<\/p>\n
INA said the agreement pledged increased efforts to widen
\ncooperation in petroleum, industrial, agricultural, health,
\ncommunications and educational sectors.<\/p>\n
Iraq and Indonesia would continue talks on the development of
\nthe Tuba oilfield in southern Iraq, whose output is estimated at
\n80,000 barrels a day.<\/p>\n
When he arrived in Baghdad Tuesday Rahardi said
\nrepresentatives of Indonesian oil firms would arrive in Iraq in
\ntwo weeks, adding, "I want to see an agreement signed in the near
\nfuture."<\/p>\n
The two sides decided to set up sub-committees to oversee
\ncooperation in the sectors of oil, industry, agriculture,
\ntransport and the economy generally.<\/p>",
