        "content": "<p>Iran\u2019s highest security official Mohsen Rezaei warned on Saturday\n(22\/8) that any country joining the United States\u2019 economic war against\nIran would be regarded as an \u201cenemy\u201d by Tehran.<\/p>\n<p>Rezaei, who serves as secretary of Iran\u2019s Supreme National Security\nCouncil, made the statement in an interview with state television\nstation IRIB TV.<\/p>\n<p>He said Iran would first negotiate with such countries and ask them\nnot to interfere in the conflict, but warned that if they refused,\nTehran would strike at their interests, and that if neighbouring\ncountries chose to join the US blockade, Iran \u201cwould not allow a single\ndrop of oil to be exported from the Strait of Hormuz.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said Iran had studied ways to circumvent US sanctions and had\ncontinued selling oil for many years.<\/p>\n<p>Rezaei also reaffirmed that the Strait of Hormuz would remain closed\nunless the US fulfilled its commitments under the Iran-US peace\nmemorandum of understanding signed last June, adding that this time\nWashington must act first.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday (19\/8) that\nthe US would launch \u201cthe most devastating economic operation ever\nconducted\u201d against Iran, describing it as \u201ceconomic war and isolation on\nan unprecedented scale.\u201d<\/p>",
