Tensions in the Gulf region have intensified after Iran\u2019s military\nissued a strong warning to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regarding\npotential attacks from its territory.<\/p>\n
In its official statement, Iran\u2019s military command affirmed that it\nwould launch a heavy assault if any aggression originates from UAE\nterritory against the disputed islands of Abu Musa and Greater Tunb.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf there is further aggression from UAE territory against Iran\u2019s\nislands, our armed forces will respond with a major attack,\u201d stated\nIran\u2019s military.<\/p>\n
The islands of Abu Musa and Greater Tunb have long been a source of\ndispute between the two countries. Iran controls the areas, but the UAE\nalso claims sovereignty over them. Their location near the Strait of\nHormuz makes the region highly strategic geopolitically.<\/p>\n
The Strait of Hormuz itself is a vital route for global energy trade,\nwith around one-fifth of the world\u2019s oil supply typically passing\nthrough the area. However, maritime traffic is now disrupted due to the\nexpanding regional conflict.<\/p>\n
Tensions have risen since the US and Israeli military strikes against\nIran on 28 February, which subsequently triggered retaliatory actions\nfrom Tehran at various points in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
Iran accuses Gulf states of providing access to US forces to launch\nattacks from their territories. These accusations are accompanied by\nmissile and drone strikes claimed to target American interests in the\nregion.<\/p>\n
However, Gulf states have repeatedly denied these allegations. They\nhave affirmed that they will not allow their territory or airspace to be\nused to attack Iran.
