Iran suspects the United States\u2019 military operation to rescue a\nfighter jet pilot whose F-15E crashed in the country was a cover for\n\u201cstealing enriched uranium\u201d from Tehran.<\/p>\n
Previously, US President Donald Trump, on Sunday (5 April), stated\nthat the US had rescued two F-15E fighter jet pilots who crashed in\nIranian territory on Friday (3 April) the previous week. Trump described\nit as the \u201cmost daring search and rescue operation in US history\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Iranian military, in its statement, called the US mission a\n\u201cdeceptive and escape mission\u201d and insisted that the operation had been\n\u201ccompletely foiled\u201d.<\/p>\n
Spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Esmaeil Baghaei, as\nquoted by AFP on Tuesday (7 April 2026), said there were \u201cmany questions\nand uncertainties\u201d about the US military operation in Iranian\nterritory.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe area where the American pilots are claimed to be in Kohgiluyeh\nand Boyer-Ahmad Province is very far from the area where they attempted\nto land or wanted to land their troops in central Iran,\u201d Baghaei said in\na statement on Monday (6 April).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe possibility that this is a trick operation to steal enriched\nuranium cannot be ignored at all,\u201d he emphasised.<\/p>\n
Baghaei added that the military operation was a \u201cdisaster\u201d for the\nUS.<\/p>\n
The Iranian military stated that several US military aircraft were\nforced to \u201cmake emergency landings\u201d in southern Isfahan Province after\nbeing hit by gunfire during the rescue mission, and the US was \u201cforced\nto bomb the downed aircraft\u201d as a result.<\/p>\n
Baghaei claimed that two US military transport aircraft of the C-130\ntype and two Black Hawk helicopters had been destroyed by Iran during\nthe rescue mission.<\/p>\n
Previously, Trump revealed that he had ordered the US military to\nsend \u201cdozens of aircraft, armed with the world\u2019s deadliest weapons, to\npick up\u201d the fighter jet pilots.<\/p>\n
A report from the leading US media outlet, the New York Times (NYT),\nciting an unnamed Washington official, stated that Navy SEAL Team 6\nCommand was tasked with evacuating the US pilots.<\/p>\n
The NYT mentioned that two US military aircraft, which were supposed\nto transport the pilots and rescue team to a safe location, were stuck\nat a remote base in Iran and were forced to be destroyed to prevent them\nfrom falling into Tehran\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n
US forces then used three other transport aircraft to evacuate the\npilots and rescue team out of Iran.<\/p>\n
