Iran\u2019s head of national security, Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, has\nissued a list of demands that must be fulfilled by the United States\nbefore Iran will agree to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Zolghadr, who\nalso serves as secretary of the Supreme National Security Council,\npublished the demands via state media.<\/p>\n
The list of demands includes the lifting of the US naval blockade,\nthe withdrawal of military forces, and a permanent end to the conflict.\nZolghadr also urged the US to compensate Iran for losses incurred during\nthe conflict and to unfreeze Iranian assets.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese are the demands of the Iranian people, which they have voiced\nloudly during 160 days of steadfast presence in the field and on the\nstreets,\u201d Zolghadr stated. However, he cautioned that the\nreopening of the strait depended on other conditions, including US steps\nto remedy violations of a memorandum of understanding agreed upon by\nboth nations in June.
