Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has stated that Tehran is ready\nto provide an equivalent response if the United States (US) resumes its\ncommitments as agreed upon in the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding\n(MoU).<\/p>\n
Pezeshkian made the statement during his speech at the 26th Shanghai\nCooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, on Tuesday\n(1\/9). \u201cI clearly state that if the United States returns to fulfilling\nits commitments based on that memorandum of understanding, the Islamic\nRepublic of Iran will immediately provide the same response,\u201d he said,\nas reported by Anadolu.<\/p>\n
Pezeshkian accused Washington of failing to implement the established\nagreement. According to him, the United States ceased its compliance\nwith the deal less than two weeks after the memorandum of understanding\nwas signed.<\/p>\n
He noted that Iran subsequently provided a response deemed\nproportionate to the actions taken by the United States. According to\nPezeshkian, the agreement between Iran and the US was reached after both\nnations endured approximately 40 days of armed conflict. The process was\nthen followed by nearly three months of negotiations conducted through\nthe mediation of Pakistan and Qatar.<\/p>\n
