        "content": "<p>Iran\u2019s military is reported to be concentrating its attacks on US\ninterests in the Gulf region, including military bases and energy\ninfrastructure, amid escalating regional tensions.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview with Al Jazeera, Hassan Ahmadian, an academic from\nthe University of Tehran, assessed that it would not be a rational\nchoice for Iran to antagonise Gulf states through such attacks. \u201cNot at\nall\u2026 I do not think that is a rational choice,\u201d he stated when asked\nwhether Iran\u2019s decision to attack the surrounding region risked\ndeteriorating relations with Gulf states.<\/p>\n<p>However, Ahmadian explained that according to the Iranian\ngovernment\u2019s official position, Iran is targeting US forces, bases, and\ninterests in the region. These interests, he noted, also encompass the\nglobal oil and gas market.<\/p>\n<p>According to Ahmadian, Iran is attempting to \u201charm the United States\nin a manner that can also impact many parties in the region\u201d.
