        "content": "<p>Istanbul (ANTARA) - The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy\nreportedly exchanged fire with United States forces in the Strait of\nHormuz, according to Iranian state television on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Iran\u2019s semi-official Tasnim news agency, quoting authorities in\nHormozgan province, reported that explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas,\ncoastal cities, and Iranian islands as a result of the clash in the\nstrait.<\/p>\n<p>The Mehr news agency also said explosions were heard east of Sirik in\nconnection with the exchange of fire in nearby Gulf waters.<\/p>\n<p>The reports emerged amid a fresh wave of explosions in several\nlocations in southern Iran as military confrontation between Iran and\nthe US intensifies.<\/p>\n<p>US Central Command (CENTCOM) said the strikes were aimed at degrading\nIran\u2019s ability to attack commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, CENTCOM said US forces had continued a naval blockade of\nvessels travelling to and from Iranian ports and coastal areas.<\/p>\n<p>The US has also deployed more than 20 US Navy warships and hundreds\nof military aircraft to operate across the Middle East, declaring that\nAmerican forces remain \u201cvigilant, lethal, and ready.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Tensions between the US and Iran over the Strait of Hormuz have risen\nagain in recent days.<\/p>\n<p>Both sides have continued attacking each other despite a\nPakistan-mediated memorandum of understanding intended to end the\nconflict and achieve a lasting peace deal.<\/p>\n<p>Source: Anadolu<\/p>",
