Iranian officials accuse Israel of orchestrating drone strikes against energy and civilian sites in the Gulf, including targets in Saudi Arabia and Oman. The claims suggest Tehran denies responsibility for some attacks while warning of broader regional provocation, with alleged Mossad involvement and implications for Ras Tanura and the Duqm port. The incident comes amid wider Iran–US tensions that have global energy implications.

Iranian officials have accused Israel of conducting several drone
strikes against energy and civilian sites in the Gulf, describing the
attacks as a calculated move to inflame regional anger and draw Arab
states into a war against Tehran. A senior official at Iran’s Foreign
Ministry told Middle East Eye that Israel was behind some drone strikes
against Saudi Arabia and also claimed they were responsible for at least
one strike on Oman. ‘I can say firmly that some of the attacks were not
carried out by us (Iran),’ the official, who requested anonymity, said.
The official declined to specify which strikes were Israel’s, but Saudi
Arabia has reportedly been targeted at least five times by drones and
missiles. Prince Sultan Air Base, the Ras Tanura oil refinery, and the
U.S. Embassy in Riyadh are among the facilities cited as targets. The
Duqm port in Oman has also been struck twice, a site widely accessed by
the U.S. Navy since 2019. Two other Iranian sources told MEE that
Israel’s foreign intelligence service Mossad had carried out several
drone strikes, and they added that the Islamic Republic had detected
activity by them within Iranian territory. Another Iranian source told
MEE that amid the latest strikes, Iran had sent a clear message to Saudi
Arabia that it was not behind the attack on Ras Tanura belonging to
Saudi Aramco, the kingdom’s largest domestic refinery and a major crude
export terminal. ‘This is an attempt by Israel to sabotage regional
peace and neighbourly alliances,’ the source added. The sources spoke on
condition of anonymity, as they were not authorised to speak to the
media. (I-2) The Iran–US conflict has spurred a global energy crisis.
President Donald Trump offered military escort and insurance for tanker
ships in the Strait of Hormuz as oil prices surged.
",
