Apple has officially launched its latest flagship line, the iPhone\n1lag 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, during a special event held early\nThursday (10\/9). This launch marks a historic moment as it signifies the\ndebut of Apple\u2019s new CEO, John Ternus, who officially takes the baton\nfrom Tim Cook.<\/p>\n
Under Ternus\u2019s leadership, the Cupertino-based tech giant made a bold\nmove by releasing the \u2018Pro\u2019 models exclusively first, without the\npresence of the regular or \u2018Plus\u2019 variants in the first wave.<\/p>\n
In terms of aesthetics, the new line appears fresher with more subtle\nand elegant colour options. Moving away from the striking orange accents\nof previous generations, the iPhone 18 Pro series is now available in\ndeep black, silver, glacier blue, and a unique burgundy.<\/p>\n
Siri Becomes Smarter with On-Device AI<\/strong><\/p>\n The artificial intelligence sector has received a massive upgrade.\nApple has integrated Apple Intelligence capabilities into Siri to make\nit far more contextual, natural, and highly privacy-focused through\non-device processing and Private Cloud Compute.<\/p>\n Siri is now capable of deeply reading personal context across various\nbuilt-in applications such as Mail and Messages, and is even ready to\nexecute cross-app commands, including those for third-party\napplications. Users can interact seamlessly via voice, text, or the new\nSiri interface on the home screen.<\/p>\n Currently, Apple Intelligence supports 16 global languages. For the\nAI-based Siri assistant, an English beta version is already available,\nto be followed by support for Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, and\nPortuguese this coming October.<\/p>\n Powered by 2nm Architecture A20 Pro Chip<\/strong><\/p>\n The monstrous performance of this series is fully supported by the\nA20 Pro chip with 2nm architecture. This chipset is equipped with a\n6-core CPU, including two new super cores, claimed to be desktop-class\nand the fastest in the smartphone industry with a performance increase\nof up to 20%, alongside four new efficiency cores.<\/p>\n The graphics sector has also been boosted via a new 7-core GPU that\noffers a graphics performance jump of up to 40%, increased bandwidth,\nand a new neural accelerator with 8FP calculations that are 2 times\nfaster to accelerate third-party Large Language Models (LLM) directly on\nthe device.<\/p>\n Furthermore, Apple has included a second Neural Engine, bringing the\ntotal to 32 cores.<\/p>\n To manage the heat from such extreme performance, Apple has\nredesigned the silicon packaging using a custom approach similar to the\nM-series chips. This design connects the silicon and memory directly to\na vapour chamber to boost thermal management efficiency.<\/p>\n Battery Efficiency Sets New Records<\/strong><\/p>\n Thanks to the efficiency of the A20 Pro chip, the iPhone 18 Pro has\nachieved a significant leap in battery life. Interestingly, despite the\niPhone 18 Pro having a more compact body, the device is capable of\nmatching the battery durability of the Pro Max version.<\/p>\n Specifically, the iPhone 18 Pro is claimed to last up to 24 hours for\nnormal use and 36 hours for video playback. Meanwhile, the iPhone 18 Pro\nMax has recorded the largest battery endurance in iPhone history,\nlasting up to 30 hours of normal use and reaching 45 hours for video\nplayback.<\/p>\n Charging is also faster; 15 minutes of wired charging can fill the\nbattery to 50%, and just 5 minutes of charging is enough to play 6 hours\nof video.<\/p>\n 48 MP Fusion Camera with Variable Aperture<\/strong><\/p>\n The most highlighted improvement is in the photography sector. The\niPhone 18 Pro is armed with a new 48-megapixel fusion main camera\nequipped with a variable aperture feature for professional-level\ncreative control.<\/p>\n To achieve this, Apple designed a complex mechanical system\nconsisting of six laser-cut blades, each thinner than a human hair, made\nof a special polymer composite to ensure a perfect balance of mass,\nflexibility, and durability.<\/p>\n The aperture can adjust automatically; when low-light conditions are\ndetected, the diaphragm opens wider to absorb 50% more light. Video\nrecording has also become more professional with support for 4K\nresolution in Dolby Vision HDR format in Time-lapse mode.<\/p>\n Pro Controls are now available to provide full manual control over\nwhite balance, histogram, shutter speed, and aperture for both photos\nand videos. Additionally, there is on-device AI-based smart focus\ntracking to accurately lock onto a subject even if they momentarily move\nout of the frame.<\/p>\n Addressing the issue of digital image manipulation, Apple introduced\na new security feature called Apple Reference Image. The main camera\nwill immediately sign photo data at the pixel level the moment the\nshutter button is pressed. The Private Cloud Compute feature then\nprocesses this signed data into an unalterable image format in the\nPhotos app, similar to the concept of a \u201cdigital negative\u201d in analog\nphotography.<\/p>\n iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max Prices<\/strong><\/p>\n The iPhone 18 Pro is priced starting from US$1,199 (approximately\nRp20 million) for the 256GB capacity, while the Pro Max version starts\nfrom US$1,299 (approximately Rp22 million).
