The Rector of the Institute of Home Affairs Governance (IPDN),\nHalilul Khairi, has revealed several indicators and assessment methods\nfor the 2026 Batch II Outstanding Regional Government Awards for the\nKalimantan region. This awards programme, held under the Ministry of\nHome Affairs (Kemendagri), is scheduled to take place on Thursday (3\/9)\nin Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, with IPDN appointed as the\norganiser.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe measure based on achievements and the indicators reached, which\nwe discuss with BPS [Statistics Indonesia] and relevant ministries,\u201d\nHalilul told CNN Indonesia after inspecting the event venue at the\nPlatinum Hotel on Wednesday (2\/9).<\/p>\n
These indicators encompass public services and community needs,\nincluding education, healthcare, waste management, and housing. \u201cWe\nmeasure based on those indicators. Then, we compare them by region to\nidentify those with the highest achievements according to those\nindicators, and those will receive the award,\u201d the IPDN Rector\nstated.<\/p>\n
\u201cTherefore, we do not create these indicators ourselves; the\nachievements are indeed those that have been realised by the local\ngovernments,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Halilul emphasised that the Ministry of Home Affairs does not assess\nprogrammes in isolation but looks at overall results. For instance, a\nregion possessing an excellent hospital does not automatically guarantee\nan award. He continued that the Ministry of Home and Home Affairs\nreviews the total achievements of local governments, establishes an\nassessment system, and calculates the final score.<\/p>\n
During the visit, Halilul also shared a message for local governments\nregarding the awards. He noted that such recognition should serve as a\ncatalyst for local governments to serve the people more effectively and\noptimally.<\/p>\n
\u201cFor us in the Ministry of Home Affairs, this is merely a way for the\ncentral government to acknowledge that they have worked well. However,\nthe most fundamental recognition they seek is from their own people,\u201d\nsaid Halilul.<\/p>\n
The 2026 Batch II Outstanding Regional Government Awards for the\nKalimantan region are expected to be attended by regional heads from\nacross Kalimantan. The event will also involve five governors and the\nRegional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) at the provincial\nlevel across Kalimantan, as well as regents and mayors.<\/p>\n
Beyond being an awards ceremony, the agenda includes a coordination\nmeeting (rakor) for provincial Forkopimda with the Coordinating Minister\nfor Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam).
