        "content": "<p>IPB University has imposed a one-semester suspension on 16\nperpetrators of sexual harassment in the Faculty of Engineering and\nTechnology (FTT) at IPB. Dean of FTT IPB University, Slamet Budijanto,\nstated that the 16 students were proven to have violated campus life\nregulations and committed sexual harassment against female students.\n\u201cThe sanction of a one-semester suspension was imposed on the 16\nstudents proven to be involved on 17 April 2026,\u201d he said in an official\nIPB statement on Monday, 20 April 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Slamet explained that the alleged sexual harassment case, which\noccurred in a private chat within a conversation group, took place in\n2024. He mentioned that the campus officially received the report on 14\nApril 2026.<\/p>\n<p>In response to the report, he said, a team from the Faculty of\nEngineering and Technology along with the Office of Campus Security,\nSafety, and Protection Management (KMKKPK) summoned the reporter on 15\nApril 2026. The day after, FTT IPB University called the relevant\nparties for case investigation and evidence collection.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the examination process and available evidence, FTT then\nimposed a sanction of a one-semester suspension on the 16 students,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>Director of Cooperation, Communication, and Marketing at IPB\nUniversity, Alfian Helmi, said that IPB University places victim\nrecovery as the top priority. The steps taken include restoring the\nvictim\u2019s rights in both academic and social aspects, as well as\nproviding psychological counselling and ongoing support. \u201cThen,\nguarantees of protection from pressure, intimidation, or stigma; and\nstrengthening safe spaces for victims and reporters,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that IPB University recognises that every case is an\nopportunity to strengthen the system. Therefore, the institution is\ncommitted to enhancing prevention and handling mechanisms for cases,\nincreasing education on ethics and equality in the campus environment,\nand fostering a culture of mutual respect and courage to report. \u201cIPB\nUniversity also invites the entire academic community to jointly\nmaintain the campus as a safe, inclusive, and civilised space,\u201d he\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>The Student Executive Board of the Student Family (BEM KM) IPB\nUniversity previously revealed that there were 16 students allegedly\ninvolved in a sexual violence case in the FTT environment. President of\nBEM KM IPB University, Abdan Muhammad Abdan Rofi, said that the alleged\nperpetrators and victims are from the same batch, namely batch 59 in the\nDepartment of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering, Faculty of\nEngineering and Technology IPB.<\/p>\n<p>Abdan said that this case has been handled intensively by the campus\nside. He stated that the faculty deanship plans to impose academic\nsanctions on the perpetrators. \u201cIt is currently under discussion by the\nfaculty deanship for the details of the academic sanctions. There are 16\nalleged perpetrators,\u201d said Abdan when contacted on Friday, 17 April\n2026.<\/p>\n<p>This alleged sexual violence came under public scrutiny after\nscreenshots of the perpetrators\u2019 conversations circulated widely on\nsocial media. The dozen students engaged in sexually toned conversations\nharassing the victim in an internal group on a messaging platform.<\/p>\n<p>Based on initial information, Abdan explained that this sexual\nviolence occurred in 2024. The perpetrators and victims had previously\nmediated in the same year. The mediation between the two parties at that\ntime was conducted within the internal scope of the mechanical and\nbiosystems technology department, facilitated by seniors.<\/p>\n<p>However, the case resurfaced after a sexual violence case with the\nsame modus operandi was revealed at the Faculty of Law, University of\nIndonesia. Abdan said the victim reposted the screenshots of the\nharassing conversations. Now, the victim has also officially reported to\nthe campus authorities. \u201cCurrently, the mediation between the\nperpetrators and the victim is brought to the deanship level and\naccompanied by the institution and BEM,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
